Overruling the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) refusal to certify late actor Om Puri’s last film “Rambhajan Zindabad”, the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) has recommended an adult certification for the film with a new title ” Omprakash Zindabad”.
The film was denied certification by the CBFC, colloquially known as the Censor Board, ostensibly for being ” a satire on rape”, for “explicit and abusive language”, and for references to ” castes and communities”.
In April, the FACT had come to the rescue of ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ a film based on the theme of women’s sexuality, which had been denied certification on similar grounds- the language was abusive and that it was demeaning to women- by the Pahlaj Nihalani- headed CBFC.
In its order on Omprakash Zindabad, a satire based in Uttar Pradesh on the issue of compensation given to rape victims, the FACT has noted that the film’s producers have agreed to changes, deletions and muting of objectionable words, along with a change in title, and “deserves to be granted” an A certificate.

सर्टिफिकेट पाने के लिए कई फिल्मे अक्सर सेंसर बोर्ड के वर्षो चक्कर लगाती है.दिवंगत ओम पुरी की आखरी फिल्म को सेंसर बोर्ड से तीन सालो के बाद राहत मिली है. इसके लिए मेकर्स को सेंसर की ट्रिब्यूनल बॉडी तक जाना पड़ा. वहा से फिल्म को ए सर्टिफिकेट जारी हुआ. मगर इसके लिए भी मेकर्स को तीन साल का इंतज़ार करना पड़ा.
फिल्म के डायरेक्टर रंजीत गुप्ता बताते है, दरअसल सेंसर के ट्रिब्यूनल हेड ओम पुरी जी के बड़े फैन निकले।उन्होंने ही सजेस्ट किया कि क्यों न इस फिल्म का टाइटल ‘रामभजन जिंदाबाद’ से बदलकर ‘ओमप्रकाश जिन्दबाद’ कर दिया जाये।मेकर्स को उनका सुझाव पसंद आया और अब फिल्म इसी नाम से रिलीज़ होगी।
यह फिल्म बसीकली यूपी में निचले तबके की रेप विक्टिम को सरकार की तरफ से मिलने वाले कंपनसेशन की बंदरबाट पर एक सटायरिकल टेक है.ओम पुरी इसमें छुटबए नेता के रोल में नज़र आएंगे,जो सरकार की तरफ से आने वाली कंपनसेशन के करोड़ो की रकम हड़पने के रैकेट में शामिल है. वह रैकेट केस ,रेप के फर्जी विक्टिमो को सामने लेकर सरकारी पेसो की लूटमार करता है, फिल्म इसी के बारे में है.
इस फिल्म में बड़े अरसे बाद अपने जमाने के मशहूर कॉमेडियन जगदीप भी नज़र आएंगे। ‘शोलें में सुरमा भोपाली का करैक्टर प्ले कर चुके जगदीप इसमें नेगेटिव रोल में है.वो रेपिस्ट के किरदार में नज़र आएंगे।
