Netflix’ $4 mobile-only subscriptions could bolster its growth in India.

In a bid to grow its audience in India, Netflix is trialing cheaper subscriptions that allow access to its streaming video service only on mobile devices, reports The Economic Times.

The plan, which costs Rs. 250 ($3.65) a month, comes in at half the price of Netflix’ cheapest standard plan for users in the country. That could make a lot of sense for the streaming giant, which brought its service to India in 2016, and was soon followed by Amazon’s Prime Video.

The country has seen the number of smartphone users grow nationwide from 199 million in 2015 to 340 million at the end of 2018, according to eMarketer. It’s expected to double by 2022, says a report from Cisco. India also has the cheapest mobile data plans in the world, making this an ideal location to test subscriptions tailored for personal gadgets.

Many people across the country are coming online for the first time right now, and they’re doing so with personal mobile devices as opposed to desktops and laptops.

In addition, Netflix has already begun offering content in local languages, including Bollywood blockbusters and movies from India’s numerous other film industries. It’s also begun producing-original shows and movies there, some of which is available to international viewers too.

From what we can tell, if this model will work anywhere, it’s in India’s fast growing market, which is also experience a boom in digital services like instant money transfers, e commerce, and streaming content channels. The move could also guide Netflix strategy for other developing markets across the globe in the company’s plan for world domination.

There are no contracts with Netflix so you can cancel the service at any time, but until then the credit card that you use to sign up will automatically be charged each month.

Netflix भारत में जल्द भी नेटफ्लिक्स लो-कॉस्ट मोबाइल प्लान को पेश कर सकता है. लो-कॉस्ट प्लान के साथ कंपनी का लक्ष्य हॉटस्टार, अमेजन प्राइम, एएलटीबालाजी और जी5 जैसे दूसरे डिजिटल कंटेंट प्लेटफॉर्म्स से मुकाबला करना होगा.

नेटफ्लिक्स भारत जैसे विकासशील देशो के लिए अपने सस्ते प्लान लाने की तैयारी में है, ताकि कंपनी अपना लोकल बिज़नेस बढ़ा सके. अब ऐसा लग रहा है कि कंपनी जल्द ही भारत में अपने सस्ते प्लान को पेश करने वाली है, क्योकि ऐसी जानकारी मिली है कि नेटफ्लिक्स भारत में अपने लो कॉस्ट मोबाइल प्लान की टेस्टिंग कर रहा है. प्राप्त जानकारी के मुताबिक नेटफ्लिक्स भारतीय ग्राहकों को एक महीने के लिए मोबाइल प्लान को 250 रूपये में उपलब्ध करा रहा है.

मौजदा वक्त में नेटफ्लिक्स भारत में तीन प्लान्स उपलब्ध कराता है, जिसमे से बेसिक प्लान की शुरुआत 500 रूपये प्रति महीने से होती है. दूसरा प्लान 650 रुपए प्रति महीने वाला है, वही तीसरा प्लान थोड़ा प्रीमियम है और इसके लिए ग्राहकों से प्रति महीने 800 रूपये लिए जाते है. 250 रूपये वाले प्लान की पेशकश के साथ कंपनी भारत में जयादा यूजरस को प्लेटफार्म से जोड़ना चाह रही है.

इकनोमिक टाइम्स की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, नेटफ्लिक्स 250 रुपये वाले प्लान के साथ भारतीय ग्राहकों के बीच टेस्टिंग कर रही है और इसमें सब्सक्राइबर्स केवल एक स्क्रीन में sd कंटेंट ही देख पाएंगे। यानि इस नए प्लान की कीमत शुरूआती कीमत वाले मौजूदा प्लान की तुलना में सीधे आधी है.

हालाँकि इस सस्ते प्लान के बावजूद भी नेटफ्लिक्स का प्लान अभी भी दूसरे डिजिटल कंटेंट प्लेटफार्म की तुलना में महंगा ही होगा।

इसी तरह ZEE5 के हर महीने ग्राहकों से 99 रूपये लिया जाता है और alt बालाजी के तीन महीने के सब्सक्रिप्शन की कीमत 100 रूपये है. फ़िलहाल भारत में इस प्लान को कब तक उतारा जायेगा, इस बारे में कोई जानकारी नहीं मिली है. हालांकि लांच के बाद भी 250 रूपये वाला प्लान केवल मोबाइल के लिए उपलब्ध होगा।
