The trailer of Love Aaj Kal, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan just dropped and is setting social media on fire. The film is a remake of Imtiaz Ali’s 2009 release of the same name. The original had Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The 2020 release is also directed by Imtiaz.
The trailer of Love Aaj Kal is pretty to look at. The cinematography is top-notch, much like Saif and Deepika’s original film. But that’s all that is working in favour of this rehashed version. The rest is just downhill.
Sara Ali Khan as Zoie looks convincing but her dialogue delivery pulls her performance down. We expected better from her. Kartik Aaryan as Veer is completely out of his depth without a monologue. Though the trailer doesn’t have one to facilitate Kartik’s performance, we aren’t sure if the film would.
Arushi Sharma makes an appearance as a schoolgirl in 1990 and later in a train scene, but we’re unsure if her role is identical to that of Giselli Monteiro in the 2009 version, or is there a change.
The story doesn’t offer anything new either. In fact, all it did was make us miss the 2009 release. Search for it on OTT platforms and add it to your watch list for the weekend.
The Saif and Deepika-starrer Love Aaj Kal is the story of a couple who are in love but do not want to get married. It was an interesting portrayal of commitment phobia creeping into modern-day relationships. It is also not gender-specific; women can be commitment-phobic too. The new version doesn’t add anything else to the original thought, even after 11 years.

लव आज कल 2 में सारा अली खान काफी बोल्ड अंदाज़ में दिख रही हैं। ट्रेलर के शुरुवात में सारा कार्तिक पर भड़की हुई दिखाई दे रही हैं क्योंकि वह हमेशा उनका पीछा करते रहते है। सारा, कार्तिक पर चिल्लाती और कहती हैं की मेरा पीछा करते करते यहाँ तक आ गए। और फिर कहती है नहीं करोगे, क्यों नहीं करोगे मेरा पीछा? मैंने मना किया क्या? यह डायलॉग सुनकर ‘सैराट’ फिल्म की याद आ गई। आर्ची भी कुछ इसी अंदाज़ में डायलॉग बोलती है।
सारा को बहुत बोल्ड दिखाया गया है। इस फिल्म में, सारा और कार्तिक का केमिस्ट्री लोगों को काफी पसंद आयेगी। लव आज कल 2 में बताया गया हैं कि प्यार हो जाने के बाद, सारा अपनी करियर लो लेकर परेशान होती है और उसे प्यार को आगे नहीं बढ़ाना है । कार्तिक, सारा को मानाने की पूरी कोशिश करता है।
इम्तिआज़ अली लव आज कल 2 को डायरेक्ट कर रहे हैं। इस फिल्म में कार्तिक और सारा के साथ रणदीप हुड्डा भी मुख्य किरदार में नज़र आयेंगे। लव आज कल वैलेंटाइन डे (14 फरवरी) के दिन रिलीज़ होगी।
