Kesari is an upcoming Indian period war drama film. It stars Akshay Kumar, Bhagyashree and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles and directed by Anurag Singh. It tells the story of Havildar Ishar Singh who participates in the Battle of Saragarhi while yearning for the respect of his estranged daughter.It is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language film.
The film stars Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles and also stars Mohit Raina, Abhiroy Singh Cheema, Ashutosh Jha, Mir Sarwar and Ashwath Bhatt in the pivotal roles.
Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Sunir Khetarpal produce duces the film under the banner of Zee Studios in association with Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.
Written by Girish Kohli and Anurag Singh, the film is slated to release on 21 March 2019. Akshay aces the look of a Sikh warrior.The story of the film is based on battle of Saragarhi.. “On Saragarhi Day, here’s the first look of Kesari – our humble tribute to the martyrs of Saragarhi. ‘Aaj meri pagdi bhi Kesari… Jo bahega mera woh lahu bhi Kesari… Aur mera jawaab bhi Kesari‘,”
In September 1897, over 10,000 Afghan tribesmen of the Orakzai and Afridi tribe attacked Saragarhi, North Western Frontier Province (NWFP) . The Sikh regiment, under the leadership of Havildar Ishar Singh, knew that they were outnumbered but they still held their ground and fought for several hours.The Kesari posters feature fictionalised versions of all 21 of the Sikh soldiers with Akshay taking the center-stage as Havildar Ishar Singh, who lead the Sikh soldiers in the battle.
“Parineeti has a minuscule role in ‘Kesari’. She plays Akshay’s wife and only comes in the flashback sequences since the film is based on Battle of Saragarhi.

महान लड़ाइयों में से एक, सारागढ़ी के युद्ध पर आधारित ‘केसरी ‘ फिल्म है.इसमें अक्षय कुमार एक बहादुर सिख हवलदार ईश्वर सिंह का किरदार निभा रहे है.अक्षय के अलावा इस फिल्म में परिणिति चोपड़ा,भाग्यश्री,मोहित रैना, मीर सरवार,आशुतोष झा, अश्व्था भट्ट है.’केसरी’ एक पीरियड ड्रामा है. ये चर्चित सारागढ़ी की लड़ाई पर है, जो 1897 में ब्रिटिश भारतीय सेना की एक छोटी-सी टुकड़ी और अफगानी सेना के बीच हुई थी. इस लड़ाई में ब्रिटिश भारतीय सेना के 21 सिख जवानों ने 10 हजार की तादाद वाली अफगानी सेना का मुकाबला किया था.
ये फिल्म 21 मार्च, 2019 को होली पर रिलीज होगी.अनुराग सिंह इसको डायरेक्ट कर रहे हैं.
