Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming film Article 15 has been making headlines for quite some time now. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the cop-investigative drama is inspired by true events and will feature Ayushmann as an IPS officer named Ayan Ranjan. Recently, the movie was entangled in a controversy, in which the makers of the film were accused of showing the Brahmin community in a negative light. Now, Article 15 has received its certificate from the CBFC and Anubhav who was apprehensive about the same is happy with certification.
The CBFC asked the makers for five negligible cuts in the film to which they agreed immediately. Article 15 has received a U/A certificate, and a happy Anubhav was quoted by Bollywood Hungama as saying, “The CBFC asked for just five very basic negligible cuts, to which we agreed in less than a minute. The cuts were for foul words and they asked for a voiceover with a disclaimer, very reasonable requests that I was happy to comply with.” The filmmaker further added, “Article 15 has been given a “U/A” certificate. And that too with nominal cuts. I am very happy.”
Along with Ayushmann, Article 15 will also star Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, M. Nasser, Ashish Verma, Sushil Pandey, Subrajyoti Bharat, Ronjini Chakraborty and Zeeshan Ayub in pivotal roles. The film is slated for a June 28 release.
