All debate over nepotism can wait because here’s yet another star kid set for a Bollywood launch. We are talking of late Amrish Puri’s grandson, Vardhan Puri. The actor will make his Bollywood debut in an upcoming romantic thriller to be produced by Jayantilal Gada, reports Mumbai Mirror.
In an interview to the said publication, the actor said that his grandfather’s influence on him is complete. For Vardhan, his grandfather is the “God” to whom he prays.
According to the report, the upcoming film will be shot in north India and will roll from September. The hunt is still on for the leading lady and director of the film and a decision to that effect should happen sometime soon.
Vardhan, who has assisted Habib Faisal on Ishaqzaade and Daawat-e-Ishq and Manish Sharma on Shuddh Desi Romance in the past, was quoted as saying: “I was supposed to start off with a period-drama with Jayanti bhai, but for some reason that didn’t work out. He approached me later for this film which I loved and immediately gave my nod to.”
The film will be much on the lines of Hollywood director David Fincher’s psychological thriller Gone Girl in its treatment of the subject, he added. The actor is currently busy attending workshops and training for his role.
Vardhan is clearly in awe of his late grandfather. He identifies himself as a fan of Charlie Chaplin, Kishore Kumar along with Puri senior. To him, his grandfather was his first teacher and the God he prays to. The late actor’s influence on Vardhan is evident in the manner the latter speaks about the veteran actor. “Dadu is the God whom I pray to. I was so close to him that I would sleep between him and my grandmother. When he passed away, for me it was like losing the protective cover of an umbrella. It was then, that I decided that if I do something, it would be for my grandfather and this film is an ode to him.”
On his legendary grandfather, whom he reveres, Vardhan told Mumbai Mirror, “Dadu is the God whom I pray to. I was so close to him that I would sleep between him and my grandmother. When he passed away, I decided that if I do something, it would be for him. This film is an ode to him.”
Of all his grandfather’s films, Vardhan says he likes blockbusters like Virasat, Ghatak, Mr. India and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge the most.

बॉलिवुड के दिग्गज अभिनेता रहे अमरीश पूरी के पोते वर्धन पूरी भी फिल्मी दुनिया में पैर रखने जा रहे हैं। वह फिल्म ‘पागल’ से बॉलिवुड में डेब्यू करेंगे, जो साल 2019 में रिलीज होगी। हाल ही में वर्धन ने अपनी डेब्यू फिल्म और दादा अमरीश के बारे में बात की।
वर्धन शुरू से ही ऐक्टर बनना चाहते थे। फिल्मी दुनिया में एंट्री करने पर उन्होंने बात करते हुए कहा कि जब मै पांच साल का था तभी से एक्टर और घर का एंटरटेनर कहलाता था। अपने खाली समय में मैं दादा जी की विग और जूते पहनकर पूरे घर में घूमता था और उनके डायलॉग बोलता रहता था। उस समय मेरे परिवार को एहसास हुआ कि मैं ऐक्टर बन सकता हूं। मेरी बहन सांची, उसकी दोस्त और हमारे घर में काम करने वाले लोग मेरे दर्शक हुआ करते थे। डेब्यू की बात करें तो मैं पहले इतिहास से जुड़ी कोई फिल्म करना चाहता था, लेकिन बाद में मैंने पागल की स्टोरी पढ़ी और मुझे उससे प्यार हो गया।’
वर्धन थिएटर आर्टिस्ट भी रहे हैं। साथ ही में उन्होंने कई फिल्मों के लिए असिस्टेंट डायरेक्टर के रूप में भी काम किया है। उन्होंने बताया कि इस दौरान उन्हें ऐक्टर्स के करीब रहने का मौका मिला, जिनसे उन्होंने काफी कुछ सीखा। हालांकि, डेब्यू फिल्म के लिए उन्हें और तैयारी करनी पड़ी। वर्धन ने बताया कि, ‘डेब्यू फिल्म में अपने किरदार की तैयारी के लिए मैं अपने दोस्तों से करीब 18 महीने दूर रहा और खुद को रोल के लिए तैयार किया।’
दादा अमरीश पुरी का वर्धन के जीवन पर काफी प्रभाव रहा है। उन्होंने कहा ‘मुझे लगता है मेरे दादा जी सबसे ईमानदार और प्रभावी ऐक्टर थे। फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में उनका कॉन्ट्रिब्यूशन अनमोल है। मैं उनकी बहुमुखी प्रतिभा और अनुशासन व परिश्रम की भावना से प्रेरित हूं। मैंने उनसे सीखा कि आप असल जिंदगी में जितने वास्तविक होंगे फिल्म के लिए आप उतने ही अच्छे ऐक्टर बन सकेंगे।’
अब देखना ये है कि अपने दादा की तरह वर्धन पुरी भी विलेन बन अपना करियर चमकाते हैं या फिर हीरों बन दर्शकों का दिल जीतते हैं। बता दें इससे पहले वर्धन फिल्म ‘इशकजादे’ और ‘दावत-ए-इश्क’ के लिए हबीब फैसल और ‘शुद्ध देसी रोमांस’ के लिए मनीष शर्मा को असिस्ट कर चुके हैं ।
वर्धन अपने दादा के गुरु और नेशनल अवॉर्ड जीतने वाले एक्टर सत्यदेव दुबे से ट्रेनिंग ले रहे हैं। वर्धन कहते हैं, ‘मुझे लिखने और डायरेक्शन का भी शौक है लेकिन एक्टिंग मेरा पहला प्यार है। दुबे जी ने मुझे बैकस्टेज का काम दिया। मैं कास्ट और क्रू को चाय पिलाता था और स्टेज साफ करता था।’
