Amitabh Bachchan and Aayushmann Khurana will soon be seen sharing screen space for a quirky comedy directed by Shoojit Sircar. The filmmaker, who has earlier worked with Aaysuhmann Khurana in Vicky Donor (2012) and Amitabh Bachchan in Piku (2015), is bringing the two actors together for the first time. The film Gulabo Sitabo will be sent in Lucknow.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the film is written by Juhi Chaturvedi. The writer had also penned Vicky Donor and Piku. The Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu-starrer October was also written by Juhi Chaturvedi. Gulabo Sitabo will go on floors next month.
The title of the film is a colloquial term used in Lucknow. Shoojit informed, “Regarding the title’s association with the story, you will have to wait and watch the film to know more.”
Gulabo and Sitabo are glove puppet characters from Uttar Pradesh. The papier-mache puppets are common all over the state. In the story of Gulabo and Sitabo depicts the exhausted wife of a man, while Gulabo is his seductive mistress. The story is popular for its local humour and songs that symbolise the day-to-day struggles.
Sircar who is also working on the biopic of the freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh, with Vicky Kaushal in the lead.

70mm की स्क्रीन पर अब नज़र आने जा रही है बॉलीवुड के दो उम्दा कलाकारों की जोड़ी। पहली बार बड़े पर्दे पर बॉलीवुड के दिग्गज अभिनेताओं में से एक अमिताभ बच्चन और बी टाउन के एक्सपेरिमेंटल बॉय आयुष्मान खुराना एक साथ दिखाई देंगे।
फिल्म निर्माता शुजीत सरकार ने अपनी आने वाली कॉमेडी ड्रामा ‘गुलाबो सीताबो’ में अमिताभ बच्चन और आयुष्मान खुराना को कास्ट किया है.
निर्माता शुजीत सरकार इससे पहले भी दोनों एक्टर्स के साथ काम कर चुके है. शुजीत सरकार ने फिल्म ‘विक्की डोनर’ में आयुष्मान के साथ और फिल्म ‘पिकू’ में बिग बी के साथ काम किया था. दोनों की मूवीज ने ना सिर्फ पर्दे पर बल्कि लोगो के दिलो पर भी बेमिसाल छाप छोड़ी थी. इसलिए अब आयुष्मान और बिग बी की इस अनोखी जोड़ी को सिल्वर स्क्रीन पर देखना बेहद दिलचस्प होगा। फिल्म की कहानी जूही चतुर्वेदी ने लिखी है.
फिल्म के टाइटल के बारे में बात करते हुए शुजीत ने बताया कि यह उत्तर प्रदेश की राजधानी में इस्तेमाल किया जाने वाला एक बोलचाल का शब्द है. फिलहाल, निर्देशक शुजीत सरकार विक्की कौशल अभिनीत फिल्म उधम सिंह का निर्देशन कर रहे है और आयुष्मान खुराना अम्र कौशिक की फिल्म ‘बाला’ की शूटिंग में व्यस्त है.
फिल्म की शूटिंग अगले महीने से शुरू कर दी जायेगी और फिल्म को इसी साल रिलीज़ करने का भी प्लान है.
